Here's a quick solo episode to share insights into what business looks like 5 months after we reopened the studio. If you're a coach or trainer who's still waiting for their gym to reopen, I'm hoping this gives you some hope for the future. Keep holding on.

Back to business but not as usual. This episode marks the opening week of gyms, personal training studios, etc. and the finale of The Coronavirus Chronicles. Personally, I went from having about 40 clients to working with 15 during the week, having 23 postpone until maybe July, and 2 actually quitting all together for different reasons. There's been a mix of reactions to the steps gyms are taking to adhere to the guidelines. Beyond the pandemic there are other things happening in our world that continue to plague our society which changes my focus throughout this episode. Thank you for listening to this special edition of Fitness Candor Podcast, I hope it helped someone. Stay safe, be kind to each other and I'll talk to you later.

This is the last week before I return to work. I keep things short again as I tried to soak up as much time with Melissa and Kennedy as possible. It's not that I'm not looking forward to working again, it's that this time away from work went by so fast and I'm hoping I made the best of it. I'm aware that a lot of people are living in different circumstances so I try not to dwell on my situation but I'm having mixed feelings about the upcoming week.
This will be the last installment of the at home Coronavirus Chronicles and I'll recored a going back to work version then call it a wrap. Thanks for listening everyone!

Telling everyone that this is the 9th installment of The Coronavirus Chronicles is hard to believe. When I first started recording these I knew time would fly and I wanted to capture emotions and thoughts along the way and I think I did just that...and I was right, time flew. This series is much shorter than past episodes because it wasn't the best of weeks and I honestly didn't feel like reporting that much so there's only one check in per day which worked out nicely. I'll continue the final week the same way and maybe have a wrap up episode the week the gym opens. I hope everyone is well!

I'm not so sure I can call these podcasts "special editions" much longer. A lot of confusion this week with the announcement of other businesses reopening but no mention of gyms, fitness centers, etc. I spoke with some other gym owners around the country and mention it briefly. You'll hear a little frustration that that lead to some short recordings but overall it really wasn't a bad week. I hope everyone is doing well!

The biggest piece of this chronicle is Ohio Governor DeWine's reopening announcement and its impact on what happens next. By now most people know how it turns out but my reaction is interesting. The rest of the week had a couple of surprises as well that hit close to home.

This episode marks the 6th week since businesses shut down. Six weeks of an increase in unemployment, of uncertainty, binge watching…more family time. It’s been strange but the more time that passes the more I’m enjoying being home. Don’t get me wrong, I’m looking forward to working but I’ve realized that once work resumes I won’t get this time with Kennedy or Melissa back. Maybe some of you have similar thoughts?

Another week of ups and downs but with the news that businesses reopening in early May is a possibility. I don’t talk about it much in the episodes but it’s on my mind. How’s that going to look? How many clients will come back right away? How will it impact the spread? All sorts of thoughts…I usually don’t feel like sharing those feelings as much on the podcast but maybe I should. Stay well everyone!

Another week, that's all there really is to it...I'm sure all of you feel the same. This series has a lot of ups and downs, moments of clarity and some frustration. My first virtual appointments are discussed in this episode which is really important for those trainers/coaches still struggling with what to do next. Hang in there everyone!

I can't believe we're already in April and three weeks of tighter restrictions to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Hopefully all of you are still safe and managing whatever your new life looks like right now. I've received some great feedback from some listeners and the most consistent thing is that it's good to hear how others are coping right now. That's all that these episodes are...just a short insight into how I'm managing day-to-day. Maybe it's helping me more than anyone though. Hang in there!

I hope this finds everyone doing as well as you possibly can both mentally and physically. Each one of us is going through something different at this very moment. You or someone you know has lost a loved one to the virus, maybe you've lost your income, it's possible you're not impacted at all (somehow). Whatever the situation you find yourself in know that we're all in this together. Here's series two of The Coronavirus Chronicles which covers 3/23-3/29. It's just me sharing my thoughts as I go through "the new norm".
March 23, 2020
Hey folks,
What a strange time we're in. As of 3/16/2020 all gym and fitness centers were closed in Cincinnati, OH. I'm chronicling my days since the closure...mostly to share my thoughts, fears, etc. but more importantly to say we're in this together. All of us are going through this in our own ways...some with less, some with more but all at the same time.
Expect a weekly edition since I have the time. Stay safe out there.
